Ultraviolet Spectrophotornetric Determination of Caffeine in Cola Drinks: An Organic Analytical Experiment Organic chemistry lahoratary experiments have been recently described for the extraction of caffeine from No-Doz tablets,' tea,2 or soft drinks.3 The latter of these has been adapted to a rapid and accurate spectrophotometric method for the auantitative estimation of the alkaloid in cola drinks. The method involves snalvsis of a student-oravided "real" samole selection. quantitntive pipetting and dilution. :rod includei quantitative liquid-liquid rrtmrtion, rpeetmphot~metrieA., calihrntim rurvt prrparatiun, and ultraviolet specrrophotometric analyt~ralmenwremenr
