Books Hydrocarbon Research Group, and held at the University of Durham, En gland, March 30-April 2,1976. The conference was one of a series initiated in 1954 with the aim of presenting es sentially review papers on a wide vari ety of spectroscopic subjects to pro vide an up-to-date overview and to highlight important new develop ments. This book contains 29 articles contributed by 41 authors from the in ternational community and arranged under four general headings: nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, in frared and Raman spectroscopy, elec tron spectroscopy, and applied spec troscopy. The literature is surveyed through 1975.

Published as Volume 6 of the series on computers in chemistry and instru mentation, this book describes various ways that polymer chemists use the power of computers to solve their re search problems. It presents 10 indepth articles written by 15 experts. The first six chapters are devoted to theoretical considerations of polymer ization reactions and to understanding the reaction variables and their influ ence on polymer products. The final four chapters demonstrate the uses of computers to control experiments and to simulate data obtained from experi mentation on polymer material. The 15 articles dealing with various aspects of toxicology were prepared in manuscript form in 1975 and original ly published in "Clinical Toxicology", Volume 10, Numbers 1 and 2. Includ ed are articles on veterinary toxicolo gy, laboratory support of drug abuse control programs, beryllium in the en vironment, XAD-2 resin drug extrac tion methods, and safety testing of fragrances. Also included are studies of adverse drug reactions, drugs and children, drug abuse proficiency test ing, and some historical aspects of marijuana, as well as a new section of

Two areas of instrumental analyti cal techniques are reviewed in Volume 4 of the series devoted to the annual review of analytical sciences. The first article on voltammetric techniques re views the developments in polarographic and related techniques. It cov ers advances in instrumental and ap plications areas in separation sections. The second article reviews the devel opments in high-frequency electrodeless plasma spectrometry. Topics dis cussed in this review include classifi cation of plasma types, emission spec trometry, nebulizers, inductively cou pled radio frequency plasma torch, and microwave plasma. The literature is surveyed through 1975.

This is the first supplement to the NBS Special Publication 363, "Bibli ography on Atomic Energy Levels and Spectra, July 1968 through June 1971". The supplement covers the most recent literature from July 1971 through June 1975. It contains ap proximately 2150 references classified by subject for individual atoms and atomic ions. A number index identifies the references. An author index is in cluded. References contain data on energy levels, classified lines, wave lengths, Zeeman effect, Stark effect, hyperfine structure, isotope shift, ion ization potentials, or theory which gives results for specific atoms or atomic ions.
