New Fluorichrom:.. a sensitive, specific and affordable fluorescence detector for ppt trace analysis in liquid chromatography. Fluorichrom outperforms other filter fluorimeters and matches or exceeds many of the capabilities of far more expensive spectrofluorimeters. Yet, it is offered at a price which most LC labs can afford. For maximum sensitivity in the region where most fluorescent compounds absorb, Fluorichrom's bright tungsten-halide lamp provides strong continuous excitation from > 2 8 0 nm through the visible region. Typical Fluorichrom MDC values are: polynuclear aromatics in the 50 ppt range; amino acids 25 to 75 ppt, and aflatoxins as little as 20 ppt. Fluorichrom's inherent specificity makes it invaluable for many analyses. For example, many compounds which cannot be discriminated by absorption because they absorb at the same wavelength, can be selectively detected by fluorescence because it determines compounds by two parameters: both their excitation and emission wavelengths. Fluorichrom's dual-filter system significantly decreases backgound noise and increases sensitivity. Two filters, rather than just one, are used at both the excitation and emission positions. The two filters reinforce one another in the cutoff regions minimizing leakage and noise from unwanted light. A very broad selection of filters is available: bandpass, interference or cutoff, for selectivity or for maximizing cumulative fluorescent emission over a wide wavelength range. Varichrom "... the new, low-cost UV-Vis detector that covers the entire range from 190 nm to 700 nm Designed specifically for liquid chromatography, Varichrom gives you unmatched performance. Many new features make detection easier and more universal. • Continuously variable wavelength detection from 190 to 700 nm lets you optimize for most organic compounds or for elimination of solvent background. · The system's extended wavelength region and low noise permit monitoring many new compound classes such as lipids, mono-olefins and carbohydrates. • Dual-beam optics maximize stability and long-term reliability.
