Model DTA 1700 System is designed for high temperature differential thermal analysis. The system linearizes both the sample temperature signal and the ordinate signal. The unit may be operated in either the conventional DTA mode or as a heat flux DSC. The furnace can be heated at program rates up to 100 °C/min and has a forced cooling capability. The furnace system permits a standard operating range to 1500 °C. Program control and temperature calibration are accomplished by the microprocessor controller. Perkin-Elmer 405

System for Automated Clinical Chemistry Tests With the COBAS BIO system, from one to 30 clinical chemistry tests can be performed with only 0.3 mL (approximately 15 drops) of blood. The system includes a centrifugal analysis module, a spectrophotometer using a xenon flash, a grating monochromator, and a microprocessor. Tests are selected with a push burton or with a test number that automatically sets all parameters. The design prevents carry-over or contamination. The system can be interfaced with a computer. Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. 414

Sulfur Dioxide Monitors Models 2502 and 3502 S 0 2 monitors feature dual ranges of 0-2 ppm and 0-10 ppm, minimum detectable sensitivity of 1 % full scale, response time less than 45 s to 90% of reading, span drift less than 2 % of reading per day, precision ± 2 % of signal, and operating temperature range 32 to 104 °F. Sensor options provide for use in 0-100% relative humidity environment without need for sample conditioning. Audible alarm is an available option with Model 2502, whereas Model 3502 has visual and audible alarm capability. Becton Dickinson and Co. 418 Adjustable Span Flow Controller

Air Sampler Model TFIA-4 Battery-Powered Air Sampler draws large volumes of air to sample particles as small as 0.01 /xm at rates of up to 70 CFM. The sampler is designed for remote field use, and is suitable for spot or continuous monitoring of air pollutants. It is powered by standard automobile batteries. Staplex Co. 417 Software for IR Spectrophotometers Compuset II preprogrammed software module for the Microlab MX Series Computing Infrared Spectrophotometers provides the programming to automate the identification of unknown samples. It provides automatic data storage, retrieval, and scanning from a spectral library stored in the floppy disk memory bank of the spectrophotometers. Beckman Instruments, Inc. 421

Model 202 Linear Set/Micro-AdjustableSpan Flow Controller can be set for flow spans from under 1 mL/min to several hundred mL/min. Span changes are made by setting an adjustable laminar flow needle valve. Flow rate changes within the span are made by varying the differential pressure across the needle valve. The flow rate control is a 10-turn nonrising stem which permits linear adjustment. Condyne Instruments, Inc. 425 Turbomolecular Pump Turbovac 360 pumps are available with volume flow rates of 345 L/s for air, 340 L/s for helium and hydrogen and 350 L/s for argon. They feature a 3 min start-up time, and will attain ultimate pressures of < 1 0 - 1 0 mbar at a rotational speed of 45 000 rpm. Priced from $7185 to $7450. Leybold-Heraeus Vacuum Products, Inc. 422
