Industrial& Engineering Chemistry Research is pleased to publish this virtual special issue (VSI), which contains several invited research articles from authors who made outstanding presentations at the 255th ACS National Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana,1−12 as judged by the chairs of their symposia. Each invited manuscript went through our regular peer review process, and each article is published with a note indicating that it was an invited contribution as a result of an outstanding presentation from a National ACS meeting. The theme of the ACS National Meeting was “Nexus of Food, Energy & Water”. Contributions deal with topics related to both energy (production of renewable fuels,1,3 fossil fuels,5,7,8 conservation2) and water (separation of emulsions,1 heavy metal removal4). The invited authors were selected from a broad cross section of symposia that aligned with I&EC Research subject areas, and the contributions involve studies with catalysts,3,6,9,11,12 polymers,2,5,7 and ionic liquids.10 This compilation is our sixth VSI highlighting authors and invited papers from an ACS National Meeting {https://pubs. acs.org/page/iecred/vi/food-energy-water-nexus-neworleans. html}. The contributions in this VSI originated from authors in Brazil, Canada, France, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, The Netherlands, the United States, and the United Kingdom. We trust that this VSI, from authors who made outstanding presentations at the 255th ACS National Meeting in New Orleans, will be valued by both our authors and readers.
