Elemental Analyzer CHN-O-Rapid Characteristics

Advantages

Applications

Sample weights:

from 0.2 to 200 mg, depending on sub stance (e.g., samples of nitroaniline from 0.2 to 25 mg). •

Sample feed: automatic feed, 49 samples; adjustable from continuous to single feed. Working temperatures: combustion tube 0:1140 °C reduction tube CHN: 550 - 700 °C

Duration of combustion:

variable from 0.1 to 9.9 min; recommended: 1.5 min. •

Indication of measured values: with computer: automatic print-out in %; with printer (optional): automatic print-out of integrals.

Standard deviation: 0.1 % for nitroaniline. Absolute deviation: generally 0.2%.

1 to 1.51 of He and 40 to 100 ml of 0 2 for one simultaneous CHN determination. 280 to 450 ml of forming gas for one Ο determination. Required consumable reagents and gases: commercially available reagents for analy-

Simultaneous CHN determinations: 9 to 14 min. CN determinations: 6 to 9 min. Ν determinations: 6 to 9 min. Ο determinations: 4 to 6 min, Computer-controlled analysis program: hence regular, automatic monitoring of the calibrating factors, the reduction tube filling, and the mechanical analysis. Automatic transfer of the weighing data. Measuring ranges: - N: 1 χ 10"3 mg absolute - C: 5 χ 10~4 mg absolute - H: 1 χ 10~4 mg absolute - 0 : 1 χ 10~3 mg absolute Design featuring easy service and handling (advantageous for leak tests, tube changes, etc.). Inexpensive disposable tin boats or capsu les for liquid samples.

Polymers, including those containing halogens, phosphorus, sulphur and similar substances (alsoTeflon®, for example). Petroleum products, such as diesel oils, gasolines, lubricants, oil additives and fuel oil. Refinery catalysts, carbon determina tion. All types of coal, from anthracite to lignite. Oil shale, crude as well as processed. Synthetic oils and gasolines in liquid and solid form. All shorts of petrochemicals and chemi cals in liquid (weighed and burned in tin capsules) and solid form. Coal liquefaction products. Pharmaceutical products. Ocean and river bottom sediments. Soil samples. Synthetics and rubber products. Plants, wood, food products, fruit. Hardly combustible substances, such as graphite/carbon. (Graphite was found to contain from 99.6 to 99.9 % carbon).

Multifunctional analyzer with four diffe rent operational modes: CHN, CH, Ν and 0 (optional); uncomplicated conver sion to Ο determination in just about 5 min. CHN determination: suited for all organic and inorganic substances which decom pose at 1050 °C in an oxygen stream. Ο determination: suited for organic substances which are cracked at 1145°C. Large sample weights reduce demands on homogeneity. Uncomplicated, automatic sample feed via a vertical combustion furnace. Sample feeder loading possible any time during the analysis. Combustion temperature and tube filling may be adapted readily to each measur ing problem: hence complete decompo sition without additives. The integrator will start each desorption process only after total integration of the preceding gas component has been achieved. This feature permits measure ment of radically different quantities of CHN.
