Web Submission of JACS Communications On July 31, 2000, the Journal of the American Chemical Society began accepting the submission of Communications via a secure Web site (http://pubs.acs.org/ submission/jacsat). This Web submission option replaces the electronic submission option introduced earlier this year that allowed authors to submit their Communications as attachments to e-mails. The use of a template (which can be found at http:// pubs.acs.org/cgi-bin/submission•gen/template.pl?Journal)jacsat) is required for all Communications submitted via the web. Authors may now have their Communications automatically converted to the portable document format (PDF) for the peer-review process and will be offered the option of receiving their Communication galley proofs via a secure Web site. The use of nonstandard fonts can result in delays in the processing of manuscripts submitted electronically, whether the PDF files are provided by the author or generated by our system. Thus, authors are advised to use only Times and Symbol in text and tabular material and Helvetica and Symbol in artwork. For additional information, please go to the web submission site (http://pubs.acs.org/submission/jacsat) and view “Tips for Generating PDF Documents”. Authors should combine all Supporting Information files of the same type as a single file; for example, all Supporting Information available as PDF files should be contained in one PDF file. If there are two or more CIF files for a manuscript, the data should be submitted as a single file with the string “#))END” inserted at the end of each logical CIF file. Supporting Information provided in hard copy or as PDF files should be formatted to fit within a minimum number of pages (e.g., text and tabular material should be single-spaced and graphics should be reduced in size). Supporting Information or materials for reference which are available only in hard copy should be forwarded without delay to the Editor in Austin. This material should be labeled clearly with the manuscript number assigned to the Web submission. Allen J.
