I n many instances mechanics with no previous experience have done first-rate installations with PYREX Piping. Your present plant; workmen c a n do i t . Fittings a r e available for joining PYREX Piping t o existing lines and equipment. Metal t o glass and glass to glass fittings are easily assem­ bled. PYREX Piping is hung and supported much like other types of piping: A f e w simple precautions such as padding supports and hangers to minimize scratching will assure long life. I S GLASS PIPING A V A I L A B L E N O W ? Yes. Glass-making materials are fairly plentiful. W e do need priority ratings that enable us t o get accessories (flanges, gaskets), to assign necessary labor, a n d to establish your order in our production line. With such priorities we have been making 6 t o 8-week deliveries. Available sizes and lengths: 1 "% 1}4"> 2", S", and 4" diameters; any length from 6 inches to 10 feet (longer lengths o n special request). There are corresponding ells, tees, return bends, and reducers. Accessories: Compression type joints—with conical pipe ends com­ pressed to a self-centering gasket by metal flanges and clamping bolts. We supply gaskets of materials suited to the liquid or gas you want to convey.

W H A T DOES I T COST? The initial cost of PYREX Piping (accessories included) is about the same or less than t h e cost of full-weight copper or brass piping» in com­ parable sizes, and i s considerably less than the cost of stainless steel. A n d because PYREX Piping does not wear out under acid attack, it gives long trouble-free service, with resultant low long-time cost.

WILL IT S T A N D UP MECHANICALLY? Yes. PYREX Piping is recommended for working pressures up t o 100 lbs. p. s. i. But glass in this form i s not as strong as metal. S o , care must be taken to avoid installation strains or sharp impact. Nearly 20 years of service under all kinds of plant conditions have proved that only simple common sense and reasonable care are required to handle PYREX Pip­ ing without trouble. T h e glass itself, incidentally, is v e r y hard—about twice as resistant to abrasion as ordinary plate glass. Thus, t h e piping is particularly suitable for abrasive, corrosive slurries.
