The rumor that others also make filter papers is true. Ha/vevec they, do not make Whatman fitter papers. We do. We heard a litany of lamentation the other day from a laboratory worker who used to be a Whatman filter paper customer. He called to tell us that he's back. Our re-found friend, thinking (horrors) that "filter paper is filter paper" tried one of those brands that seem to come and go. It was at hand and, using it, he saved a trifling amount. Unfortunately, his brand lacked a little something: wet strength. Plop, he says, went the solution. He lost just under an hour re-doing the prefiltrâtion procedure of his experiment.
