I n one h a n d ordinary resin . . . s h a t tered by a single hammer blow. I n t h e other h a n d E P O N resin . . . still intact after repeated h a m m e r b l o w s . Q u i t e a s i g n i f i c a n t difference! It means that varnishes and enamels made with Epon resins RESIST1 abrasion, scratching and chipping. T h e secret of this ability lies in t h e chemical s t r u c t u r e of the Epon r e s i n molecule . . . an entirely new class of condensation polymer. I t s r e a c t i v e groups are evenly spaced along t h e chain so t h a t t h e curing agents whicli cross-link t h e resin and m a k e i t thermosetting are also uniformly separated . . . this accounts for trie flexibility of the cured resin.

Moreover, t h e polar nature of t h e Epon molecule contributes outstanding adhesion . .'.so tenacious t h a t an unprimed zinc die casting can be finished with a single coat of an Epon resin enamel. As a plus quality, E p o n resins h a v e fine resistance to detergents, caustics, many acids and stain-producing agents.
