SPECTROPHOTOMETER
The Beckman Photoelectric Quartz Spectrophotometer is a compact, self-contained instrument applicable to a wide variety of research and control work. It is remarkably accurate, versatile, rapid and simple to operate. It comprises a quartz monochromator with light source, sample holder, phototubes, and electronic measuring system reading directly in percentage transmission and density. It permits measurements in the range 320 to 1000 millimicrons. When used in conjunction with an Ultraviolet Accessory Set, measurements can be made from 220 to 1000 millimicrons. SPECIFICATIONS Monochromator—Autocollimating type with prism of selected crystal quartz. Wavelength scale calibrated 200 to 2000 mmu., easily readable to 0.1 mmu. in the ultraviolet and 1.0 mmu. in the infrared.
Absorption Cells—Holder regularly furnished accommodates four cells of 10 mm. light path. An interchangeable holder is available for Corex or silica cells of 20 mm., 50 mm., and 100 mm. light path.
Slits—Entrance and exit slits simultaneously and continuously adjustable from 0.01 to 2.0 mm. Precise adjustment within 0.1%. Direct reading dial.
Phototubes—A caesium-oxide phototube with high sensitivity from 1000 mmu. to 600 mmu. and a blue-ultraviolet-sensitive phototube with high sensitivity from 625 to 200 mmu. are supplied.
Light Sources—Interchangeable in quick-change mountings; tungsten lamp for measurements from 320 to 1100 mmu.; hydrogen discharge lamp for use below 320 mmu.; other lamps available for checking wavelength calibration.
Electronic Indicating Meter—A self-contained electronic amplifier in conjunction with a potentiometer scale permits direct readings in both percent-transmission and optical density.
