Beckman Instruments, Ltd.'s new $250,000 plant at Glenrothes, Scotland, is nearing completion and should be ready to begin operations in February. The newly formed subsidiary of Beckman Instruments, Inc. will occupy 20,000 square feet and employ 50 persons. It will manufacture precision poten tiometers and components for elec tronic instruments and systems. Beckman has one other subsidiary, Beckman Instruments, GmbH., at Munich, Germany. Reinhold Publishing Corp. estab lished a college department, devoted ex clusively to publishing college text books. I t will specialize in under graduate and graduate textbooks in the physical and biological sciences, engi neering, and related disciplines.

ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY
Instruments for Industry and Re search is the name of a new Philadel phia firm devoted to low cost automa tion of routine procedures used in sci entific research. Headed by Daniel R. Conlon, formerly of Rohm & Haas, the firm's research and production facilities are located in a 2000 square foot labo ratory building in Cheltenham, a sub urb of Philadelphia. The company plans to specialize in low-cost light weight units for controlling time, pres sure, temperature, foam level, liquid level, and other variables. The firm's name in common usage will be abbrevi ated to " P R , " the engineer's power formula. Labasco, Inc., an organization of af filiates, will furnish laboratory instru ments and supplies to industrial, educa tional, and government laboratories. The organization consists of the com bined \varehouse facilities of seven sup ply houses. Member companies are Cardinal Products, Inc., Chemical Rub ber Co., Industrial Scientific Co., MacAlaster-Bicknell Co., B. Preiser Co., Schaar and Co!, and Standard Scientific Supply Corp. In addition to supply service, the organization plans to de velop equipment under the Labasco trademark. Sanborn Company, manufacturers of precision medical and industrial instru ments, celebrates its 40th anniversary by moving into its new plant at Waltham, Mass.
