Model 5205X, a matrix of Spiraltron electron multipliers, is an area-sensitive detector for charged particles, metastable species, énergie UV inputs, and soft X-ray inputs. Each element is capable of producing a pulse of 5 χ 107 elec trons for each detected input electron, ion, or photon. Model 5205X detects inputs located anywhere within a 0.18-inch-square area, but the output charge pulses are also imaged in exact positional correspondence with the input event. Auto-Attenuator

An auto-attenuator which provides attenuation rates as fast as 50 msec per step also provides maximum resolution readout through a dynamic 12-step range from 1 to 2048 times the re corder's basic calibration. Reliable solid-state digital logic circuitry auto matically selects the optimum span for any high-impedance strip chart re corder. An on-the-chart record of at tenuation changes can be ordered to show exactly what has happened. Prices start at $550. Esterline Angus, P.O. Box 24000, Indianapolis, Ind. 46224. (317) 632-6501 437

Radiation Detectors A new line of ultra high-intensity solid-state radiation detectors for the measurement of a variety of radiation species including electrons, gammarays, neutrons, and X-rays, as well as heavier charged particles, has been in troduced. The silicon diffused junction detectors are available in either P-I-N or lithium-ion-drifted configurations and have a typical sensitivity in the measurement of gamma or neutron transients to intensities as great as 10 18 MeV/cm 2 sec with 5 nanosecond resolu tion form accelerator, pulsed reactor, or nuclear weapon events. The detectors can be operated in a current mode rather than a counting mode for mea suring high-intensity radiation tran sients.
