Monsanto is the world's largest commercial producer of elemental phosphorus—the matrix is mined from huge deposits i n Tennessee and Idaho is converted to elemental phosphorus of better than 99( I purity—made into phosphoric acid from which sodium phosphates are derived. Sodium phosphates find wide "across-the-board" uses in many different industries—as detergent aids for synthetic detergents, in dishwashing and bottle-washing operations, dairy cleaners, metal cleaners, and many more.
