You'd better investigate Methocel, even ifyour product's already great. F i r s t place can change hands overnight. Whether y o u ' r e in p a i n t . Food. Pharmaceuticals. Or cosmetics. That's why it pays to consider any potential improvements. Particularly if they're as promising as Methocel® thickeners. Methocel thickener is preferred for latex paint because it's at least 5 to 10 times as resistant to enzyme attack as other cellulose ether thickeners. It's totally water soluble, so it doesn't leave pinholes in film. And it's available in a new form, Dispersible Granular Special, that can be added directly to cold tap water or used in any number of stages during the paint-making operation.

Methocel thickeners are preferred for foods, too. The premium grades have FDA clearance and are GRAS. They're non-caloric, compatible with calcium and sugar—and essentially sodium-free. They have good emulsification and stabilizing characteristics, too. All of which makes them equally desirable for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and dozens of other applications. Methocel thickener belongs to a select, new group of "Designed Chemicals" developed by Dow to aid formulating and processing. We're marketing these chemicals only through our Designed Chemicals Group—a carefully chosen team of specialists. They're the men who can help get your product a little closer. To perfect. Call them. The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, Michigan.

Nothing's perfect.
