A3~z-Pregnadiene-3,21-diol-7,20-dione (VII).--A solution of \'Ia (100 mg.) in acetone (20 ml.) was treated with 3 ?i perchloric acid (1 ml.) and allowed to stand a t room temperature for 2 hours. The greenish-yellow fluorescent solution was poured into ice-water, and the precipitate was collected; 63 mg. (80% yield), m.p. 227-232' with previous softening, browning and decomposition; Xmar 320-321 mp (E 23,500) and 389-392 mp (e 2,700).
