Good at the First Drop The Mettler FP-3 automatically determines dropping points of lubricating greases, ointments and edible fats in just a few minutes. The procedure conforms to the ASTM D-566 and D-2265 test specifications. When the first drop of grease to fall from a heated sample cup crosses a light beam, the dropping point is registered on the digital readout panel. The FP-3 is simple to operate: select desired temperature program, put sample cup in furnace and read dropping point. Up to 12 dropping point determinations can be conducted per hour over a temperature range of —20°C to + 300°C. Heating rates are also selectable and include 0.2, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 10.0°C/min rates. Accuracy of temperature indication at a heating rate of 0.2°C/min is ±0.1°C. Reproducibility (at 0.2°C/mm) is ±0.2°C.

Thermal Microscopy ep For thermal microanalyses, attach ^ the Mettler FP-2 to your microscope and take fingertip command of the thermal process. You never lose visual contact with the sample because the FP-2 has a pushbutton controller to increase, decrease or maintain sample temperature at a precise value. With the same controller you can record the exact temperature at which any three thermal events occur. These include beginning of melt, end of melt, phase change, or any of several conditions in the crystallization process. Temperatures are recorded in digital form on an indicator panel.
