The history of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of Ru(bpy) as described in our paper was not entirely correct. We present our excuses for this and want to set the record straight here. Hercules and Lytle did not study the ECL of Ru(bpy) but its chemiluminescence in aqueous solution. After them, the group of Bard was the first to show ECL of Ru(bpy), first in nonaqueous and later in aqueous solution.1,2 (1) Tokel, N. E.; Bard, A. J. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1972, 92, 2862.
