OVERVIEW Size exclusion or gel permeation chromatography (SEC/GPC) is a traditional technique for the determination of polymer molecular weight distributions. SEC run times are ofen in the range of 30 - 60 min. Tis webinar will describe the theory and application of ultra high performance size exclusion chromatography (UHP SEC), a new technology that allows for high-resolution separation of synthetic polymers with speeds of analysis up to 10 times faster than conventional SEC. Feasibility of UHP SEC for the characterization of polymers in both organic solvents and aqueous bufers has been demonstrated. UHP SEC is commercially available as the ACQUITY® Advanced Polymer Chromatography™ System (APC™). Enabling technologies of the APC System including a highly stable refractive index detector and rigid, sub-3 µm column particles will also be described.
