Confirmation of spectral characteristics of a compound can be accurately achieved by connecting the two units in series and carefully monitoring the results. Both units employ a high-energy, low stray light monochromator and offer a selection of light sources (deuterium and tungsten). Model SP2900 double-beam AA spectrophotometer features both peak height and peak area measurement. Timing for peak height measurement is from 0 to 99.9 s in 100-ms steps, and peak area integration is over a 4- or 10-s period. The instrument has 7-bar, bipolar illuminated digits. The range is - 0 . 0 5 to 1.999 A with a switchable decimal point and double over-range indication. Readout is in absorbance, concentration, or emission units, and digital update is 2.5X every second. It also features calibrated scale expansion from 0.2X to 50X and a background correction accessory. Patented burners are available in titanium jaw and stainless steel. Glass Capillary C o l u m n s for GC The LKB 2101 capillary columns are wall-coated, narrow bore glass. The internal surface of the glass tubing is both physically and chemically treated to increase the adhesion of the stationary phase to the walls of the column.
