Figure 5. Induction of PST-P mRNA expression in HepG2 cells by gallic acid. HepG2 cells were exposed to the indicated concentrations of gallic acid for 24 h in a dose−response experiment (A) or to 50 μM gallic acid for 3−24 h in a time course experiment (B). Cellular RNA was extracted with an Invitrogen RNA isolation kit, and RT-PCR was performed as described under Materials and Methods. The RT-PCR products were separated on 1.8% agarose gel and digitally imaged after staining with ethidium bromide. GAPDH, the housekeeping gene, was used as an internal control. The results are presented as the ratios of PST-P mRNA in treated cells to those of control.
