CHANGES TO A REFERENCE The authors wish to correct two sentences citing reference (6) and the reference itself of the above-mentioned article. One of the sentences reads on page 3538 as “... while the asphaltene model was originally proposed by Buenrostro-González et al.5,6” It must read as “... while the asphaltene model, which must consist of fused aromatic rings having peripheral alkyl substituents,5 was originally proposed at the Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo.6” The second sentence reads at the beginning of the first paragraph on page 3540 as “The model used was constructed using models of asphaltene by Buenrostro-González et al.5,6 for oil from the Gulf Area in Mexico and the ZL model by Zamudio-Rivera.4” Latter sentence must say “The model used for the asphaltene molecule, which must have fused aromatic rings and alkyl substituents,5 was constructed at the Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo in order to represent the heavy fraction of an oil from the Gulf Area in Mexico,6 whereas the ZL model was designed by L.S. Zamudio-Rivera.4” In turn, the cited reference (6) reads as “Garcia-Martinez, J. A. An approach to the molecular structure of asphaltenes separated from Mexican crude oils. Thesis. Graduate School of Cuatitlán, Autonomous National University of Mexico, UNAM, 2004.” ́ ́ It must read as “Buenrostro-González, E.; Garcia-Marti nez, J; Ruiz-Morales, Y; Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo. Una aproximación a la estructura molecular de asfaltenos separados de aceites crudos mexicanos, Instituto Nacional del Derecho de Autor, número de registro 03-2004-040212361000-01, México, 16 de abril de 2004.” The authors regret the omission to the original document that shows the asphaltene-molecules building methodology, and we wish to clarify that this was because we did not know about its existence, and therefore that there are three authors who proposed the cited asphaltene structure.
