Shell Chemical Co., agricultural chemicals division, lowered distributor price for D-D, soil fumigant, from $1.20 t o $1.00 per gallon, effective im mediately. F. W . Hatch, division manager, said reduction was made possible b y expanded production at Shell's new Norco, La., plant. Inland Steel Container Co., Chi cago, reduced prices for 5-gallon steel pails, effective Aug. 10, to meet com petitive conditions. The prices had been increased on July 17 following a rise in sheet steel. The cut amounts to about %°/o. Beta Laboratories, Philadelphia 6, issued a new schedule quoting choles terol 4-C-14 at $12.50 for one microcurie package. Compound is packed in screw c a p vials as an evaporated film. British Industrial Solvents, a divi sion of Distillers Co., Ltd., London, effected reductions as of July 25 in prices for N-butyl alcohol and butyl acetate. T h e alcohol is now quoted at £ 1 4 3 , and the acetate at £ 1 5 9 per ton for ΙΟ-ton spot purchases, de livered. Five-ton quantities are u l higher and two tons are £ 2 higher. But this shoe could take £t ! It is one o f millions of shoes that have the modern type of rubber sole reinforced by the incor poration of high styrene resins and plasticized with low cost PANAREZ hydrocarbon resins. PANAREZ resins are taclc producing agents and rubber soft eners which make definite improvements in "flex crack", abrasion and tear resistance, tensile strength, and aging p r o p erties. At the same time, PANAREZ resins permit the use of larger than normal quantities o f filler without sacrificing quality. This has resulted in important reductions in rawmaterial costs. PANAREZ resins, derived from petroleum, act excellently as polymeric plasticizers. They provide excellent color and color stability. They have low specific gravity. They are par ticularly useful in GRS rubbers w h e r e improvements in processability and stock physicals are desired—at a simultaneously reduced cost. Whether you compound or use rubber for shoe soles, wire covering, floor tiles, tires, hose, insulators o r some other prod ucts, we welcome t h e opportunity to work confidentially with you on your particular problem. Readily available i n various color grades and unlimited quantities, PANAREZ resins offer the compounder a completely reliable, low cost raw material. For full information write or wire Dept. CENT
