A Decade of Chemistry for Nonscientists-1 968 to 1977

The Committee on Public Understanding of Chemistry offers this bibliography for teachers of nonscience major (NSM) chemistry courses and others interested in promoting an appreciation for and understanding of our discipline. The bibliography cites descriptions of chemistry courses and labs for nonscientists, some ideas on activities and teaching techniques appropriate to the NSM chemistry course, descriptions of related courses and some relevant essays and reports. All the references are t o articles which appeared in this Journol in the years 1968 to 1977, inclusive. The references are chronologicalwithin each major section of the bibliography. The name of the journal, J. CHEM. EDUC. in each reference, has been omitted t o save space. The article title has been included in each reference as a guide to its content. Explanatory notes and comments are appended t o each section. Fuller (125)has briefly reviewed articles relevant to chemistry for nonscientists which were published in this Journal between 1961 and 1967. Cumulative indices are available1 which give references to articles in this Journal from 1924 t o 1949, 1949 to 1958, and 1959 to 1968.
