Bleaching Photographs with Chlorine C. W. BENNETT, Western Illinois State T~ochsrsCollege, Macomb, Illinois
AN interesting variation of
the traditional demonstratlon of the bleaching action of chlorine can be made by placing a dry discarded photograph (we use damaged or obsolete college identification pictures) in one baffle and a moistened photograph in thenext
bottle in the chlorine gas train. The dry photograph will go through the treatment practically unchanged while the picture will be completely removed from the wet one. (Evidently the dark silver in the paper is changed to white silver chloride.)
