The technical program for Pittsburgh reflects in its breadth the wide scope of our Division -from fundamental physical and chemical phenomena through inorganic, organic, and polymer chemistry to the chemical engineering of batch processes. I n addition, Dr. R. H. Wilhelm, winner ’of the 1966 ACS Award in Industrial and Engineering Chemistry, will speak to us on Tuesday morning, March 29, a t 11 : 00 A.M. He will deal with, among other things, some aspects of parametric pumping as applied to biological systems. Individual paper titles and authors are published in Chemical and Engineering News for February 14. All I&EC events will be at the Civic Arena. ABSTRACTS O F PITTSBURGH PAPERS (for the whole meeting, including our division), indexed by subject and author, are now available. Price to Division members is $3.00, plus the appropriate coupon published in the January issue, page 61. Price without coupon is $4.00. Should you wish to receive abstracts regularly without having to order each volume separately, standing orders are accepted. Planning for the 33rd Annual Chemical Engineering Symposium of the Division is well along. Subject is Chemical Engineering in Medicine and Biology; date is October 20-21, 1966 ; location is University of Cincinnati; symposium chairman is Prof. Daniel Hershey, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Cincinnati. This symposium, Prof. Hershey points out, is designed to provide a public forum for disclosure of research at the interface between chemical engineering and the life sciences. Interested participants should send 150-word proposal abstracts to Prof. Hershey. The 34th Annual Chemical Engineering Symposium will be in the subject area of characterization of two-phase disperse systems and the associated mathematics. Chairman is Dr. R. L. Curl, University of Michigan. No other details are available at present. I&EC DIVISION SUMMER SYMPOSIUM

The third in our series of summer state-of-the-art symposia will be held on June 13-14, 1966, at ACS headquarters in Washington, D. C. Subject is “Applied Kinetics and Reaction Engineering.” The cochairmen are Vernon W. Weekman and Robert L. Gorrinqof Socony-Mobil Oil Co., Paulsboro, N. J. Titles and authors will be published next month. The program is shaping u p nicely, and we urge those of you with professional interests in these areas to reserve these dates.
