Procter & Gamble makes a line of quality wholecut and fractionated methyl esters from coconut oil... including alkyl groups ranging from C8—Cï0 through C18. Also offered is TE-1G18 made from high-quality tallow. You can / select specific methyl esters having the same fractions but in varying percentages. For example, P&G offers methyl esters with typical C12 contents from 68 to 99%. Methyl esters find application as chemical intermediates, undergoing those reactions typical of the ester linkage—hydrolysis, ammonolysis, transesterification or alcoholysis, and reduction to alcohols.
