The Impact of ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering
W
e are delighted to share with you that Thomson Reuters has announced that the initial impact factor for ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering (ACS SCE) is 4.64. This impact factor is calculated as the average number of times that articles published in Volume 1 of our journal (articles published in 2013) were cited in journals tracked by Thomson Reuters during 2014. Next year, our impact factor will be the average number of times that articles published in Volumes 1 and 2 of our journal are cited in 2015. We are grateful to our many worldwide authors and reviewers for their valuable contributions in making this success possible. We also thank members of the editorial staff and the Editorial Advisory Board for their guidance and support during these foundational years. The impact factor calculated by Thomson Reuters, while the most commonly cited measure of a journal’s impact, is but one measure. It emphasizes rapid citation of articles in the peerreviewed literature and does not account for the long-term citation record, the implementation of results commercially, or the use of research results to inform public policies. Nevertheless, our editorial team views this impact factor as a clear endorsement by the global scientific community of the value of the journal. Further evidence of the success of the journal is the growth in published manuscripts, from just over 200 in 2013 to more than 350 in 2014. We project further increases in published articles in 2015. As the journal continues to grow, we look forward to serving the ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering community by continuing to disseminate the latest advances in the field, in a timely fashion, including appropriate thematic issues and festschrifts honoring pioneers in the field. We welcome your suggestions and inquiries and look forward to meeting with many of you at future scientific meetings.
