Computer Aid to the CHEM Study Experiment
One of the classic experiments in the CHEM Study syllabus is the investigation of the iron(Ill)-thioeynate, equilibrium system. This most worthwhile investigation suffers from the fact that the calculations are somewhat tedious far the student to do and that checking the students results, even with the assistance of reference tables is awkward and time consuming. The author has written a Fortran IV program to do the calculations involved and has found it to be a valuable taol for both checking student results and for stimulating student interest in camp u t e e and programming. The data input is simple enough so that students may want to keypunch their own data, or the school system's data processing center can easily keypunch a class set of cards in ten minutes or less. The program is written far the NCR Century 100 computer hut. is easily adaptable to other systems. Complete documentation and program listings are available from the author, along with sample input and output. Arthur J. Mecall, Jr. Livel.pwl High School Liverpool, New York 13088
