This two-volume book is the printed version of the enzyme data information system BRENDA that was developed in 1987 at the German National Research Centre for Biotechnology in Braunschweig and currently resides at the Technical University Institute of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology in Braunschweig. Approximately 5000 different enzymes are covered, arranged according to the Enzyme Commission list of enzymes, with 57 000 synonyms listed. Each entry gives the recommended name of the enzyme and EC number as well as the corresponding volume and page number in the Springer Handbook of Enzymes, Volumes 1-39 and Supplements S1-S7. 10.1021/ja200753x
