DOWFAX SURFACTANTS

Not just different Different and better. They work where other surfactants fail. The disulfonated molecules of DOWFAX* are unique in the surfactant industry. They have two ionic charges—not just one. They have greater dispersing power, greater solubility in electrolyte solutions, and improved hydrotropic and coupling abilities. Sound interesting? The DOWFAX family of surfactants is already solving big problems in all the following applications. Cleaning Products: DOWFAX surfactants give greater formulating flexibility in harsh environments. They are soluble and stable in concentrated sodium hypochlorite solutions even under prolonged storage or at high temperatures. They are soluble and stable in HF, HCI (30%), H 2 S0 4 (34%) and in 10% caustic at 150°C for at least 8 days. Latex/Emulsion Polymerization: DOWFAX surfactants help improve processing efficiency and product performance. They improve electrolyte stability and help you adjust particle size. They have excellent temperature and mechanical (shear) stability even at reduced surfactant levels. Agricultural Chemicals: As inert ingredients, DOWFAX surfactants are stable in concentrated aqueous pesticides such as MSMA and other arsenics. They

are insensitive to extreme pH ranges and are effective in hard water. For flowables, they enhance storage stability and give excellent bloom upon dilution. Textiles: DOWFAX surfactants are the industry standard for dye leveling and Barré control in nylon acid dyeing. They also function as stable wetting agents in bleach formulations and as highly efficient wetting agents in high caustic formulations. Petroleum: DOWFAX surfactants are effective solubilizers in high brines, even with high concentrations of divalent ions. DOWFAX products are also efficient at coupling other surfactants, such as petroleum sulfonates, into high salinity systems. Excellent solubility, plus good dispersancy and high temperature stability (350°F), make these surfactants ideal for many drilling and well treating applications from muds to de-emulsifiers, including enhanced oil recovery.
