Photocatalysis with  Visible Light Prof. Tehshik P. Yoon Department of Chemistry University of Wisconsin‐Madison

Green plants use the energy in  clean, abundant sunlight to  synthesize the organic  compounds necessary to sustain  themselves. Using photosynthesis as an  inspiration, we are developing  new approaches to chemical  synthesis that exploit the energy  in visible light.  If successful these  methods will be useful in the  synthesis of valuable, structurally  complex organic molecules and  will decrease the overall  environmental footprint of the  chemical industry.
