Chemalyzer 5 D constantly monitors softener or demineraiizer effluents for any preset point in the range of 0-100 ppm total hardness to eliminate undetected breakthroughs and the need for manual analyses. Quality engineered, this rugged instrument continuously— or intermittently—blends reagent with water samples and photoelectrically scans the mix for changing color intensity. Upon so sensing a 0.5 ppm increase above the preset threshold, the unit instantly energizes a visual alarm. Auxiliary contacts also permit remote audio-visual alarm or automatic initiation of softener regeneration cycles.
