SD continues to make news in new-process development. Take this first-of-a-kind aniline plant.

Mitsui Petrochemical Industries, Ltd. has just placed its new aniline plant onstream. The 20,000 metric-tons-per-year facility in Chiba, Japan uses a new process based on the ammonolysis of phenol. The plant was designed by Scientific Design, based on the new process developed by Halcon International. The key to the process is a newly-developed system of processing steps that permits high conversion and selectivity of phenol to aniline

at economical operating conditions. The result is a product of unique ly high purity—with no by-products to cause pollution. Other features of this process lead to reduced capital and operating costs. The design and development of more efficient processes like this is a real specialty at SD. And so is the engineering and construction of the plant once the process is developed. Whether you plan to use your own, SD's or a third party process, we're ready to help.
