UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS LOWELL DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TWO ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR POSITIONS The University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking to fill two Assistant/Associate Professor positions in the Department of Chemical Engineering with a starting date of September 2009 or later. Both positions require quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and developing a strong externally funded research program. (1) Biomanufacturing: Candidates with experience in the focus areas of process development, control, cell culture, bioseparations, and applied biomanufacturing research are encouraged to apply. Primary consideration will be given to candidates with outstanding records in scholarship and extramural funding in areas that coincide with the Life Science Initiative of the Commonwealth and who are in position to make important contributions to further the development of the Massachusetts Biomanufacturing Center at the University (http://www.uml.edu/centers/ biomanufacturing/). This newly created Center supports transition of Massachusetts biotech companies from R&D into manufacturing. The successful candidate will have access to a recently awarded $1.5 million Faculty Start-Up Package from the Massachusetts Life Science Center (http://www.masslifesciences. com). (2) Chemical Engineering: All relevant fields of research will be considered, but we are especially interested in candidates specializing in materials, energy, bioprocessing/biotechnology, or chemical processing and control. A highly qualified candidate with an exceptional record of teaching and extramurally funded research will be considered for appointment. Minimum qualifications for both positions include an earned Doctorate Degree in a closely related field with at least one degree in Chemical Engineering, a demonstrated willingness for teaching Chemical Engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, a strong publication and research record with proven success in obtaining extramural funding, and the interest and commitment to work with diverse student and faculty populations. MOLECULAR SCALE DEVICES GROUP OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR NANOTECHNOLOGY/UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA—Two post-doctoral positions are available to participate in scanning tunneling microscopy investigations of nanostructures on silicon surfaces. A candidate with a chemistry/chemical physics background is required to study organic-modified surfaces. A second position probing surface states and transport at the nanoscale requires a condensed matter physics background. Candidates for both positions must have significant experience with UHV-STM. TEACHER-SCHOLAR POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN CHEMISTRY The Wake Forest University Department of Chemistry expects to fill the position of Teacher-Scholar Postdoctoral Fellow to begin Aug. 2009. This is a non-tenure-track position, renewable for up to three years. We are a Ph.D.-granting department whose mission is to lead in undergraduate and graduate education and in research ventures that extend beyond the traditional boundaries of chemistry. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Chemistry, and will be expected to have a strong commitment to teaching general and inorganic chemistry classes (and other classes according to their expertise). Applicants will also carry out research with a faculty member(s) in their area of specialty.
