NEW PRODUCTS A i r Fume H o o d s The Series FH-300 fume hoods are specifically designed for air conditioned laboratories and "breathe" with the laboratory area in which they are in stalled. The hood draws only 50% of its air from the room itself, the balance being ducted in from the outside. Thus, complete exhaustion of undesir able fumes is effected while the load on the air conditioning system is reduced by half. Laboratory Furniture Co., Mineola, Ν. Υ. 405

WHAT GOES ON HERE? If you do any chromatography at all, it should be the new Lab-Crest needle valve, designed especially for your use. It's not a make-do adaptation, but a brand-new design with the precise control and reproducibility you need. It takes 12 turns of the new valve to get from positive-zero close to unimpeded (3 mm) open—and there's a reference scale on the stem for hairline accuracy. The valve will never freeze, never need grease. Its body is precision-bore glass tubing; its needle, Teflon. You can have the valve either by itself or built right into one of our new chromatography-column bottom connections. (The new connections are more than pretty good themselves: minimum volume between the removable fritted disc and the valve keeps the effluent you're working with from remixing.) All things considered, the built-in's your best bet, but if you just want the valve itself, fine. We'll be glad to oblige. If you'd like information on either the valve, the bottom connections, or both, let us know.

ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY
The drum-and-stylus recorder, Series SP, indicates " o n " and " o f f " condi tions of any piece of laboratory ap paratus, enabling the analyst to deter mine how long a particular operation takes to perform, and also elapsed time between operating cycles, down to a half second. It is also used for charting activity of animals during ex periments. Henry Troemner, Inc., 22nd and Master Sts., Philadelphia 2 1 , Pa. 406
Automatic Analyzer A newly-developed automatic ana lyzer for continuously monitoring major atmospheric pollutants has been per fected by Kem-Tech Laboratories, Inc., Baton Rouge, La. Precision Scientific Development will manufacture and sell the analyzer. The analyzer employs wet chemical systems which permit de termination of atmospheric concentra tions of nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and formaldehyde in the part-per-hundred million range on a continuous basis.
