LETTERS PRACTICAL EMULSIONS Sir : I recently had the opportunity of reading my review of “Practical Emulsions,” by Bennet et al., which appeared in the October 1968, issue of I&EC. T h e unfortunate omission of the word, “second,” in the last sentence of the review makes that sentence quite incomprehensible. It should read, “But if you have a copy of the second edition, I’d hang on to it, and write those dozen letters.” I’m not sure this error warrants a n erratum, but I just thought I’d call it to your attention. Incidentally, there is an interesting sidelight on this review. Some time ago, I received a letter from Japan, asking me to forward an order for the book to the publisher,
since they were unable to obtain the exact address. I was happy to do this, but this suggests to me that reviews usefully might include the complete address of the publisher, rather than just the city.
Paul Becher Chemical Research Dept. Atlas Chemical Industries Inc. Wilmington, Del. 7’9899 the word “second” was inadvertently omitted. Also, although it is our usual practice in book reviews to give the publisher’s address, we fell short on this particular occasion.

the November 1968 issue of I&EC, we failed to cite the work of McGeer and Taylor [J. Amer. Chem. SOL.,73, 2743 (1951)], who investigated rhenium metal as a catalyst for t-he activation of nitrogen and ammonia decomposition. We are indebted to Professor Michel Boudart of Stanford University for bringing this to our attention and concur with his opinion that the work of Messrs. McGeer and Taylor is the “best and only fundamental investigation” of the subject. Their work showed that small amounts of ammonia were chemisorbed and decomposed a t low temperatures and pressures.
