Direct Reading Spectrometer T h e direct reading spectrometer developed by Jarrell-Ash Co. is said to complete analysis of ferrous and nonferrous metals and alloys in 30 seconds. T h e company adds t h a t it instantly registers concentrations of u p to 30 alloying elements simultaneously on read-off dials. T h e 2 1 / 2 - m e t e r instrum e n t has a pulse-counter electronic measuring system, and a two level " D u a l - D e c k " optical system. I t is designed for optional recording of the analytical spectrum as well as direct reading analysis. B o t h methods can be used together. Other features claimed for t h e instrum e n t a r e : fingertip control of operations, safety interlocked circuits, easily serviced plug-in components, and ext r e m e t e m p e r a t u r e stability.
