Improving the Quality of Strip Chart Records For those people reliant on strip-chart recorders for data collection, how many times have you recorded a spectrum, chromatogram, or similar plot and subsequently been confounded in your attempts to photocopy or trace the peak shapes without the interfering presence of the underlying grid? A solution to this problem is used here at Pittsurgh. Pieces of A4 paper are cut ta a suitable size, and taped directly to portions of unrolled chart paper. After rolling the paper hack again, refording can pmceed as normal, starting each plot a t the leading edge of a fresh piece of taped paper.
