Morpholine is a mild organic base miscible in all proportions with water. Its volatility is so close to that of water that uniform alkalinity is maintained during evaporation of its dilute aqueous solutions. PREVENTS CORROSION Morpholine effectively combats corrosion in steam heating systems due to dissolved carbon dioxide. Morpholine is effective at much lower concentrations than other inhibitors, allowing lower costs in steam treating. Morpholine is also suggested as a volatile inhibitor in metal cutting oils.
