How to Make STANDARD VOLUMETRIC SOLUTIONS

in a Few Minutes

..Just Dilute Acculute

Thousands of installations in confection' ery plants, food plants, chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturers, in fact every processor who guards the reputa» tion and purity of his product as the major asset of good will, has specified a "Precision" distilled water installation. You, too can be sure that "Precision" water stills will give you steady, uninterrupted delivery of chemically pure water, for your product. W r i t e us your distilled water requirements, we will submit de tailed proposal. See Ί/ΟΜΛ JlaiateioJuf SupfUy 2>ealer

Precision Scientific Company Acculute is α concentrate. By the simple process of transferring Acculute to a volu metric flask and diluting, a standard volu metric solution can be quickly prepared. Acculute s o l u t i o n s are c o n t a i n e d in sealed a m p o u l e s and c o m e to y o u in clear or amber chemically resistant glass, or w a x d e p e n d i n g u p o n the properties of the so lution. Acculute s o l u t i o n s of l o w e r normalities are sealed in 50 m l a m p o u l e s and those of h i g h e r normal ities are sealed in 100 ml and 150 m l a m p o u l e s . Accu lute solutions of all n o r m a l i t i e s in these sealed con tainers h o l d exact quantities of reagents in concentra tion so that w h e n contents are d i l u t e d to 1000 ml w i t h distilled water, the stated n o r m a l i t y results. Acculute s o l u t i o n s in sealed a m p o u l e s are conven ient to store and r e m a i n stable indefinitely . . . and the standard v o l u m e t r i c s o l u t i o n s prepared w i t h them are d e p e n d a b l e . C o m p l e t e instructions for p r e p a r i n g A c c u l u t e and a formed glass rod for o p e n i n g are s u p p l i e d w i t h each a m p o u l e . A d v i c e c o n c e r n i n g e n d points, titrations and scientific references are s u p p l i e d w i t h each unit. N e c k s of all glass a m p o u l e s are pre-scratched so that an a m p o u l e can be easily split into t w o parts by merely h e a t i n g the glass rod s u p p l i e d w i t h it, and a p p l y i n g the heated rod to the scratch. W a x a m p o u l e s ( c o n t a i n i n g alkali s o l u t i o n s carbonate free) are o p e n e d by simply passing the heated rod t h r o u g h the head.

DETERMINATION OF TUNGSTEN T h e L a M o t t e Chemical Products C o m p a n y an nounces a n e w organic compound developed by John H . Y o e and A. Letcher Jones, U n i v e r sity of Virginia (Refer ence — Industrial and 1 engineering Chemistry, analytical E d i t i o n , Vol. 16, p. 4 5 - 4 8 , 1944), as a reagent for t h e gravi metric determination of t ungsten. Procedures h a v e been devised for its use in t h e determination of t u n g s t e n ores and alloys. D e terminations of tungsten with the n e w reagent are e q u i v a l e n t in accuracy t o t h e standard cinchonine m e t h o d .

D E T E R M I N A T I O N OF IRON A new sensitive stable, and widely applicable reagent, developed b y John H . Y o e and A. Letcher Jones, U n i v e r s i t y of Virginia (Reference — Industrial and Engineering C h e m istry, Analytical E d i t i o n , Vol. 16, p. 1 1 1 - 1 1 5 , 1944), for t h e colorimetric determination of ferric iron. T h e reagent m a y be used in either acid or alkaline m e d i u m . In alkaline m e d i u m it is sensitive t o o n e part of iron in 200,000,000 parts of solution. I n acid solution the s e n s i t i v i t y is o n e part in 30,000,000. Write for further information and prices.
