Receiving the ACS scholarship created a cascading effect, where one success led to another.
Sylvester L. Mosley, Ph.D. U.S. Food and Drug Admin. ◆ Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Fellow ◆ Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research ◆ ACS Scholar 1995 – 1998 ◆ Mentor to Jacqueline Smith – ACS Scholar 2001 – 2006 ◆
The scholarship helped me tremendously in attaining my degree. That success helped me to launch my Ph.D. program, which was instrumental for the transitioning into a post-doctoral position at the FDA, where my current research focuses on the synthesis of bacterial oligosaccharide antigens as components of vaccines. To come full circle, I now mentor an ACS Scholar, helping her through her first year of graduate school.
