ith this editorial, I am writing to announce a new initiative from Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research. The journal will be publishing virtual special issues each year devoted to papers from authors who make outstanding presentations at the ACS National Meetings each year. We ask the session chairs and symposia organizers within a few divisions that align with I&EC Research subject areas to identify the best presentation from their session. These presenters were then invited to submit a manuscript to be published in I&EC Research and featured in the Virtual Special Issue. Following rigorous peer review, each accepted paper is published with a note indicating that it was an invited contribution as a result of an outstanding presentation from a National ACS meeting. I&EC Research is delighted to showcase 12 papers in the first such virtual special issue highlighting the 250th ACS National Meeting in Boston, MA {http://pubs.acs.org/page/iecred/vi/ Boston-National-Meeting}. The topics covered include advances in CO2 capture,1−4 photocatalysis,5,6 electrochemical energy storage and conversion,7,8 nanofiber manufacturing,9 surface science and interfacial chemistry,6,10 geochemistry,11 and graphene composites.7,12 The contributions in this Virtual Special Issue come from authors in the US, Japan, China, Spain, the UK, and South Korea, with affiliations ranging from universities to national laboratories and industry. We trust that this first Virtual Special Issue from an ACS National Meeting will be valued by both our authors and readers.
