When you evaluate the Aminco-Bowman SPF
Consider
The SPF's ability to show superior sensitivity and high resolution simultaneously is shown in the curve. See data block for details.
SENSITIVITY
Parts Per trillion Sensitivity: Limits of detection are now 3 parts per trillion for quinine sulfate when excited at 3 5 0 nm and 2 parts per trillion when excited at 250 nm—an unprecedented UV sensitivity. Limit of detection for anthracene when excited at 250 nm is 4 parts per trillion. These sensitivities are obtained with a signal-to-noise ratio of 10:1, with the noise level less than 0 . 5 % of full scale.

' _ e s s * n a n * n m : Adjustable monochromator mirrors focus at the definj n g slit of each monochromator, giving each a resolution of 0.65 nm. When 0.1 mm slits are used, the overall resolution is less than 1 nm, while sensitivity remains high.
STABILITY
VERSATILITY
A standard deviation of less than 0.28 from a reading of 87.3 for 16 consecutive spectral scans of 0.1 ppm anthracene. Achieved through the use of a custom power supply, selected lamps, highest precision photometer and a cell compartment designed to permit temperature control of the sample—all standard components of the Aminco-Bowman SPF. Accessories are available which extend the capabilities of the AmincoBowman SPF beyond any competitive fluorescence instrument. Among these is the Corrected Spectra Attachment, which is used to obtain energy-corrected excitation and emission spectra. This accessory fully compensates for the spectral dependence of light sources, mirrors, monochromators and photomultiplier tubes. A large and versatile sample compartment permits polarization, kinetic, and solid-sample studies, and thin-layer chromatogram scans.
