ACS Southeastern Regional Meeting

MORE ACCURATE

The annual Southeastern Regional Meeting of the American Chemical So ciety, sponsored by the Oak Ridge Na tional Laboratory, will be held at Gatlinburg, Tenn., November 1 to 3. Sym posia on the following topics are planned: Radiochemical Techniques in Analytical Chemistry, Coordination Compounds, and Application of High Speed Computers to Chemical Prob lems. Papers are invited in analytical chemistry and 100-word abstracts should be sent to James C. White, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, P.O. Box X, Oak Ridge, Tenn. Closing date for receiving the abstract is July 15. For further information concerning the technical program write to Dr. R. W. Stoughton, Chemistry Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Intensive Industrial Courses Purdue University will offer three intensive courses: Mathematical Tech niques of Optimization on June 4 to 14, Design of Experiments on June 6 to 16, and Statistical Methods and Ad vanced Quality Control on September 4 to 14, 1962. The courses are prepared to cover industrial experiments and research problems. For further details write to the Division of Conferences and Con tinuation Services, Purdue University, Lafayette, Ind.

ACS Symposia Thin Layer Chromatography is one of the symposia recently added by the Division of Analytical Chemistry, ACS, to the program of papers to be pre sented at the Atlantic City, N. J., meet ing in September. Other symposia are: Uses of Radioisotopes and Radiation in Analysis, Organic Peroxides, Uses of Differential Reaction Rates in Organic Analysis," Determination of Water, Newer Analytical Techniques for Drug Research and Application of Spectrographic Methods to Carbohydrates. The latter two are joint with other divisions. The division will meet at Los Angeles and New York in 1963 at the spring and fall meetings, respectively. Further information can be obtained from the division secretary, Donald H. Wilkins, General Electric Co.* Research Laboratory, Box 1088, Schenectady, Ν. Υ.

Bausch & Lomb

PRECISION REFRACTOMETER Read accurately to .00003 with the Bausch & Lomb Precision Refractometer—three times the accuracy of standard Abbe instruments! This means dollars and cents savings to you in any quality control operation requiring precision grading. Test transparent and opaque samples by transmitted or reflected light. 1.20nrj>-1.70n£) range with two quickly interchangeable prisms. And . . . you get fast, accurate readings year after year because parts are compensated against wear. (Test prisms, available for instrument check, certified by U.S. Bureau of Standards.)
