Polyphosphates deflocculate, disperse and peptize
Organic chelating agents sequester troublesome metal ions
DE DEQUEST DOES Now you can replace the phosphate-chelating agent mixture in your present product with Dequest and get the same performance. Probably better! New phosphorus-based Dequest compounds are unique because of the combination of properties they offer. Not only do they couple the effective activity of the polyphosphates and certain organic chelating agents, but they also offer remarkable hydrolytic stability. Where the most stable of the polyphosphates, for example, has varying rates of hydrolysis under different pH and temperature conditions, Dequest compounds are stable under all pH values at temperatures exceeding 250° F. in strong acid and alkali and in excess of 300°F. at normal dilutions.
Add to Dequest's stability, water-softening and detersive abilities the compounds' capacity to effectively sequester metal ions and you'll find these new materials even more interesting. Extensive tests have shown that the use of Dequest can effectively sequester ferric iron even where pH is as high as 11. In specialty applications like bottle washing compounds, Dequest sequesters calcium and magnesium ions at the high caustic levels needed to maintain germicidal action. In its acid form, Dequest is particularly well suited for scale-removing formulations and similar applications. May we send you complete information and working samples on Dequest compounds—both the acid form (Dequest 2000) and the nominally alkaline sodium salt (Dequest 2006)?
