Model 8460A rotational microwave spectrometer is a new-generation easy-to-use spectrometer with good measurement resolution. Analysis is performed on substances in the gaseous state at room temperature, typically at pressure levels of 10"2 torr. Under these conditions of temperature and pressure, compounds with molecular weights as high as 350 are gaseous and thus appropriate for this kind of spectroscopy. Compounds are identified by their absorption frequencies. The instrument operates in the four waveguide frequency bands between 8 and 40 GHz; bands are changed easily without disturbing the sample. Spectra scanning and data gathering are automatic. Prices start at $40,000.
