We wanted to match the tread wear, groove crack resistance, and cost factors of new cis-polybutadiene tread compounds against those of natural rubber. Our new compound, Ameripol CB®441, was one of the compounds tested. All carcasses were Super Hi Tread, built by McCreary Tire & Rubber Company. The Nevada test course is a 450mile circuit through some of the roughest terrain you'll find anywhere in the country. Drivers pushed 900 miles a day until the test was com-

pleted. Average speed was 53 mph. Results: The test proved that a tread compound with 50% CB 441 and 50% natural rubber gave 28% more mileage than 100% natural rubber. That's right, 28%! And the beauty of it is, the CB 441 compound costs 1.29^ lower per pound/volume than the tread of 100% natural rubber. What's more, the CB 441 tread showed no signs of cracks, cuts, or chips. But the tread of 100% natural rubber averaged 58.25" cracks per tire. Almost unbelievable!

A tire rubber like CB 441 is no longer a dream. Tests have proved this a major breakthrough in heavyduty truck tire performance. Several companies are evaluating CB 441, and tires using this new rubber are already on the market. We'd like to tell you more about Ameripol CB 441, and how it delivers greater mileage at lower cost.
