Gel documentation UVIdoc is a modular gel-documentation system consisting of a light-tight darkroom that clamps over a transilluminator for viewing DNA, RNA, protein gels, ELISA plates, spots, and blots. Internal illumination is provided by whiie llght tubes for easy positioning of the gels, and the light-tight front door allows access to the light box to change gel media. The system comes with a 312-nm transilluminator for viewing ethidium bromide stained gels, but the transilluminator can be changed to one with a different wavelength. The CCD camera is an integral part of the darkroom and has a rotary control to change exposure levels for faint bands or media that require longer exposure. DNA levels of < 0.01 n1 nan be resolved.
